what is WiFi?

WiFi is a local area network, a bit like a network in an office, except it’s wireless. So, rather than plugging a network cable into your laptop, you can just connect by logging on from your computer when you’re within the WiFi area (often called a hotspot).

getting started

First of all, you will need to be in a WiFi hotspot area. Visit our WiFi hotspot locator to see the nearest WiFi hotspots to you.

Then you'll need either a device with built-in wireless capability, such as a laptop with Centrino^TM, or a datacard or USB modem to plug into your laptop.

3 options for connecting to a WiFi hotspot

1. Business Everywhere

2. Pay As You Consume WiFi

You can add Pay As You Consume WiFi to your Orange account - just contact us to activate this for you. Once you have been set up, you should send a blank text message to 9526 each time you want to connect. You will be sent a password valid for one session. This password should be used within 15 minutes of receipt otherwise it becomes invalid and you will need to request a new one.

one hour WiFi vouchers

You can get a one hour WiFi voucher by sending a blank text to 9434. You will receive a username and password via SMS which you can use to log into Orange WiFi.

This voucher can be used for a total of 60 minutes over a period of 24 hours from when you first log in. £5.11 (excluding VAT) will be added to your normal Orange bill.

When you receive your username and password by text, just enter them on the hotspot login page and you'll be connected.
